Our Arsenal week 36 match review discusses the Gunners’ 5-0 win against Wolves at the Emirates. This win means Arsenal finishes second in the Premier League with 84 points. Let’s discuss this emphatic Arsenal win in their final Premier League game of the season.

Arsenal Week 36 Match Review: The Positives

Arsenal Kept a Clean Sheet and Didn’t Allow A Single Shot on Target

The Gunners have not kept as many clean sheets at home as fans would have liked this season. However, Arsenal’s defending was excellent in this game against Wolves. Arsenal kept a clean sheet and only allowed Wolves to get six shots in total. More impressively, Wolves did not manage to get a single shot on target in the entire match.

Jakub Kiwior was excellent once again, remaining composed on the ball and defending well when called upon. Kiwior even scored his first Arsenal goal to add to his excellent performance. Kiwior should be even better next season with a full preseason to train with the team.

Arsenal Week 36 Match Review: Granit Xhaka Scored Twice

It has been a fantastic season for Granit Xhaka. Xhaka scored twice in this game against Wolves, bringing his season total to seven goals and eight assists in the Premier League. Granit Xhaka is likely to leave Arsenal this summer, but he helped the Gunners return to the Champions League and received well-earned applause when substituted in the second half.

Saka and Trossard Contributed to Three Goals

Saka and Trossard both played well. Bukayo Saka was lively throughout the match and scored Arsenal’s third goal in the first half brilliantly. That goal essentially killed off the match and it is great to see Saka remind everyone of his quality after signing a new contract with Arsenal.

Leandro Trossard also played well. He got two assists in this game, one to Saka in the first half and another to Gabriel Jesus in the second half. Trossard has been a fantastic signing for the Gunners and hopefully, his strong form will continue into next season.

Gabriel Jesus Scored

Jesus has had a very good first season at Arsenal, despite missing three months due to injury. He scored Arsenal’s fourth goal against Wolves, getting a rare headed goal in this game. Gabriel Jesus had eleven goals and six assists this season, despite his long-term injury. Hopefully, Jesus avoids any major injuries next season and scores even more prolifically in the next campaign.

Arsenal Week 36 Match Review: The Negatives

Arsenal Failed to Dominate Possession

Thankfully, there were few negatives for Arsenal in this match. However, the Gunners did not manage to dominate possession in this game. Arsenal finished this match with 51% possession. It did not matter, though, as Arsenal easily brushed aside Wolves in an emphatic victory.

Manager Rating for Arteta: 9/10 vs. Wolves

Arteta did a very good job in this win against Wolves. He set up the team well and properly motivated them to end the season with a win at home. Additionally, several substitutes such as Emile Smith-Rowe made a noticeable impact on the game. Arteta gets a 9/10 manager rating in this final Premier League game of the season.

Arsenal Will Pursue a Major Overhaul This Summer

The Gunners exceeded expectations this season and finished second in the Premier League with 84 points. However, it is clear that Arsenal will have to invest more to compete for the league title once again and do well in the Champions League. It is a good bet that Arsenal will at least finish in the top four again next season.
