The Heat beat the Cavaliers 107-104 in Cleveland and are now seventh in the East. The Heat could still avoid the play-in tournament, thanks to this win. Let’s dive deeper into this crucial victory for the Miami Heat.
Heat 2024 Season Part 17: Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier Stepped Up for the Short-Handed Heat
The Heat were missing quite a few players in this game against the Cavaliers. Thankfully, Jimmy Butler was not one of them. Butler is still an All-Star caliber player at his best and he demonstrated that against the Cavaliers. Butler scored 30 points on 11/19 shooting to lead the Heat to victory.
These kinds of performances are why Butler’s jersey is so popular among Heat fans, both kids and adults alike.
Terry Rozier also deserves praise for his performance, as well. Rozier scored 24 points, including 11 points in the fourth quarter capped off by two crucial three-pointers. Additionally, one of those three-pointers was a four-point play to tie the game at 100 points. Rozier remains a great addition to this Heat roster and it is great that he stepped up when the Heat needed him to do so.
The Heat Took Care of the Ball Quite Well
Turnovers can make the difference between winning and losing, especially in a competitive game like this. High turnovers is often one of the reasons the Heat lose games in recent seasons. Thankfully, the Heat took care of the ball well in this game. The Heat only had seven turnovers in this win against the Cavaliers.
Terry Rozier had two turnovers, as did Jimmy Butler. However, many of the Heat’s players didn’t commit a single turnover. It’s encouraging to see the Heat do well in this area, especially in such an important game.
Heat 2024 Season Part 17: Thomas Bryant Filled in for Bam Adebayo Adequately
Replacing Bam Adebayo in the Heat’s starting frontcourt is a daunting task, given how much Adebayo contributes on both ends of the floor. Despite this, Thomas Bryant played pretty well. Bryant scored six points and had 10 rebounds and a block, as well. Bryant helped the Heat battle the Cavaliers to a standstill on the glass, with both games grabbing 37 rebounds in this game.
The Heat Host the Pelicans Next
The Heat return home to Miami to play the Pelicans next. The Heat beat the Pelicans 106-95 in their previous matchup, so hopefully, the Heat can defeat the Pelicans once again. The Pelicans’ away record is better than the Heat’s home record, but with Adebayo hopefully returning for that game, the Heat could certainly win.
