Week 3 of Arsenal Transfer News and Rumors

arsenal transfer news

There is more Arsenal transfer news and rumors to cover since the 2022 summer transfer window is officially open. Let’s get into week 3 of what you should know about Arsenal’s summer transfer business.

Outgoing Arsenal Players

Alexandre Lacazette

As the 2021-2022 Premier League season came to a close, it seemed more and more likely that Lacazette would leave Arsenal in the summer. However, now, it is official. Alexandre Lacazette has rejoined his old club Lyon on a free transfer. The signing will be completed on July 1st.

Lacazette played a total of 158 games for Arsenal from 2017-2022. He scored 54 goals during that time. Lacazette was an important player for Arsenal for some time and formed a good partnership with Aubameyang. However, it is unfortunate that Lacazette will leave on a free transfer since he cost Arsenal 46.5 million pounds. It is also worth noting that Lacazette only scored 4 Premier League goals in 30 games last season.

Arsenal Transfer News: Bernd Leno

It also appears quite likely that Bernd Leno will leave Arsenal this summer. His agent recently said that Leno should be playing ahead of Ramsdale as Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper. Ramsdale’s form would indicate otherwise.

In any case, Fulham are the latest club rumored to be interested in Leno. Leno’s agent has confirmed this interest. With Fulham’s return to the Premier League next season, Leno would remain in London and in the Premier League if this deal happens. The main question is whether or not Fulham can afford Arsenal’s valuation of Leno.

Arsenal Transfer News: Incoming Arsenal Players

Marquinhos

Arsenal have officially made their first signing of the 2022 summer transfer window. Arsenal have agreed to pay 3.5 million euros for his services. This Marquinhos, not to be confused with the PSG defender, is a Brazilian winger who played for Sao Paulo last season.

He made 41 appearances for Sao Paulo last season and made 7 goal contributions in that time. Marquinhos is only 19 years old and will join Arsenal on a long-term contract. However, he is more of a future prospect for Arsenal rather than someone who will wear an Arsenal shirt for the first team immediately.

Marco Asensio

It appears likely that Marco Asensio will leave Real Madrid this summer. The 26-year-old is seemingly unhappy with the playing time he has gotten in recent years at Real Madrid. However, the lack of Champions League football for Arsenal next season diminishes the chances of this deal happening. We will monitor it as it develops.

Gabriel Jesus

Manchester City have now officially completed the signing of Erling Haaland. As a result, the prospect of Gabriel Jesus’s departure seems increasingly likely. However, the transfer fee discussions might slow down negotiations. Manchester City reportedly want 60 million pounds for Gabriel Jesus. Given his limited playing time and contract situation, though, it seems unlikely that Arsenal will offer to pay more than 50 million pounds at most for Jesus.

Victor Osimhen

It is no secret that Arsenal are looking for a new striker. Osimhen has been one of Napoli’s star players since joining the Serie A club. Last season, he made 32 appearances and scored 18 goals. Napoli have reportedly rejected a 60 million pound offer from Arsenal for Osimhen. Napoli apparently want 100 million pounds for Osimhen. Arsenal are preparing to increase their offer for Osimhen, but we’ll see if they can offer a fee that Napoli will accept for Osimhen.
