It’s been nearly two weeks since the summer transfer window opened. As a result, there have been some developments in terms of Arsenal’s transfer business. We’ve even seen one completed transfer for Arsenal. Let’s get into week 4 of our Arsenal transfer discussions.
Arsenal Transfer Discussions: Outgoing Arsenal Transfers
One player whose exit from Arsenal seems quite likely is Lucas Torreira. However, there have been some developments with his situation. Fiorentina refused to activate the 15-million euro buy option in his contract. Fiorentina instead offered a fee of 7 million euros, which Arsenal will certainly not accept. However, Torreira might end up staying in Serie A anyway amidst interest from both Lazio and Roma.
Leno’s playing time drastically decreased after Aaron Ramsdale joined Arsenal in the previous summer transfer window. Since Arsenal have now signed Matt Turner from New England Revolution, Leno seems very likely to depart Arsenal. Benfica are one team rumored to be interested in Leno. However, it now seems that Leno’s former club, Bayer Leverkusen, might also want a reunion with Leno. Whatever the case, it appears to be only a matter of time before Leno leaves Arsenal.
Arsenal Transfer Discussions: Konstantinos Mavropanos
Mavropanos is another player who will be leaving Arsenal this summer. Mavropanos spent the last two seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. The second season of that loan deal included a buy option for roughly 3 million pounds. That buy option has now been activated, since VfB Stuttgart avoided relegation from the Bundesliga last season.
Incoming Arsenal Players
Arsenal Transfer Discussions: Fabio Vieira
Arsenal have completed another transfer. This time, it is a transfer for the first team. Arsenal have signed 22-year-old Portuguese attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto for 35 million pounds along with 5 million pounds in potential future add-ons. Vieira made 27 appearances in the Primeira Liga last season, providing six goals and 14 assists in the process. It is good to see Arsenal add more creativity in midfield.
Gabriel Jesus has been one of Arsenal’s top targets since the transfer window opened. It seems that the negotiations for Jesus between Arsenal and Manchester City are now at a critical stage. Jesus’ representatives are traveling to England to try to complete the deal. Manchester City reportedly want 50 million pounds for Jesus, which is a price Arsenal would likely be willing to pay.
Raphina is another player that has attracted plenty of interest from Arsenal and other clubs. Arsenal are involved in direct negotiations with Leeds United for Raphina. However, after Leeds United avoided relegation on the last day of the season with a win against Brentford, they want a 75 million pound fee for Raphina. Raphina would improve Arsenal’s attack, but that 75 million pound fee could slow down negotiations for the Brazil international.
