Arsenal’s title challenge is on track with 10 games left to play in the Premier League season. The Gunners are eight points clear of Manchester City, though Manchester City do have a game in hand. Let’s dive deeper and examine the state of The Gunners’ Premier League title challenge.
Arsenal’s Title Challenge: Arsenal Has Dominated Against Other London Teams
Arsenal has played a total of 10 games against other London clubs this season. In those games, Arsenal have won nine times and only drawn once. The Gunners have beaten Tottenham twice, Crystal Palace twice, Fulham twice, and Chelsea once as part of that streak. Additionally, some of these wins have been absolutely dominant. Arsenal beat Fulham 3-0, Crystal Palace 4-1, and Brentford 3-0 this season.
The Gunners also finally beat Tottenham away from home for the first time in nine years. That 2-0 win further demonstrates how much Arsenal have dominated other London teams in the Premier League this season. Those 28 points will be invaluable for Arsenal’s title challenge.
Arsenal Have Only Dropped Four Points at Home in the Premier League All Season
The foundation for a successful season in the Premier League is strong home form. That is even more true for a team that wants to win the Premier League title. The Gunners have been exceptional at home in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal has only dropped four points at home in the Premier League this whole season. Those dropped points came against Manchester City and Brentford. The Gunners have recorded comeback wins at home against the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth, as well. Coming to the Emirates to play Arsenal is a daunting prospect for any Premier League team this season.
Arsenal’s Title Challenge: The Gunners Are Neck-and-Neck with Manchester City on Goal Difference
Arsenal’s goal difference shows that they have been dominant both at home and away in general this season. The Gunners have scored 66 goals in the Premier League this season and only conceded 26 goals. This means that the Gunners’ goal difference currently sits at +40 with 10 matches left to play. That is only two goals below Manchester City’s goal difference.
In addition to scoring the second-most goals in the Premier League this season, the Gunners have the most assists with 50 assists so far. This demonstrates that many players are contributing to Arsenal’s goal-scoring this season. Saka has the most assists for Arsenal this season with 10. Odegaard and Trossard both have seven assists. This is great to see, since it means the Gunners are not relying on a single player to score or assist goals for them this season.
My Expectations for Arsenal over the Rest of the Season
My expectations for Arsenal is that the team will continue the title challenge for the rest of the season. Of course, I hope that Arsenal can win the Premier League title this season. I expect that the Gunners will keep pace with Manchester City over the final 10 games of the season and we will see what happens. Arsenal has some difficult fixtures left to play, but this Arsenal team is more than capable of finishing the campaign on a positive note.
The Gunners Host Leeds United Next
Arsenal returns to Premier League action on April 1st as they host Leeds United. Leeds are in a relegation scrap and the Gunners have dominated at home this season. Arsenal has already beaten Leeds United this season, as well. As such, I would bet on another Arsenal victory against Leeds United.
