More Arsenal summer transfers are on the way, as it is now mid-July. As always, there have been rumors and news about incoming and outgoing players. Let’s get into week 7 of discussing Arsenal’s summer transfer window business.
Arsenal Summer Transfers: Outgoing Arsenal Players
As previously mentioned, Leno’s departure from Arsenal always seemed inevitable once the Gunners had agreed a deal to sign Matt Turner from New England Revolution. Leno clearly wants to be the #1 goalkeeper at his club. Leno has apparently agreed personal terms with Fulham on a permanent transfer.
His new contract with Fulham would be a three-year deal. Now Arsenal and Fulham have to agree to terms. Arsenal reportedly want at least 10-11 million pounds for Leno.
Arsenal signed Nuno Tavares just a year ago from Benfica for roughly 8 million pounds. However, it seems likely that Nuno Tavares will go out on loan this season. Tavares has appeared a bit raw for the Premier League in his appearances for Arsenal. As a result, a loan move will likely do him some good and get him some more experience. A loan to Marseille is one option, as Arsenal and Marseille have a good working relationship due to their recent business involving Saliba and Guendouzi.
Bellerin is another player who is unlikely to have a future at Arsenal. He played well for Real Betis on loan last season, however. It seems that Real Betis may not be able to afford to sign him permanently, though. Bellerin prefers a permanent transfer to Real Betis regardless. Despite that, Barcelona have also been linked with a move for Bellerin.
Arsenal Summer Transfers: Potential Incoming Arsenal Players
Tielemans has been one of Arsenal’s main targets in midfield for some time now. However, it seems that the Gunners are going to make an official bid for Youri Tielemans. Tielemans reportedly prefers a move to Arsenal rather than a move to Manchester United. A bid of 30 million pounds could complete this deal. Even this amount would be a bargain for a player of Tieleman’s age, experience, and quality.
Arsenal Summer Transfers: Alex Grimaldo
With Nuno Tavares likely going out on loan, Arsenal have been looking to sign left-back cover for Kieran Tierney. To that end, Arsenal have reportedly submitted a 5.9 million pound bid for Alex Grimaldo. Grimaldo is a left-back who currently players for Benfica. Benfica apparently need to save 34 million pounds in wages prior to next season, so this deal could go through for a relatively small fee.
Milinkovic-Savic is another player with links to Arsenal as the Gunners continue to look to improve their midfield. However, Lazio recently rejected a 42.3 million pound bid for Milinkovic-Savic. It seems that Lazio didn’t even seriously consider this bid, since they want roughly 70 million euros for Milinkovic-Savic. Given the disparity in valuation, this deal appears less likely to happen.
Arsenal Look to Offload Leno and Continue to Pursue Various Targets
Arsenal has not officially completed another transfer just yet. However, Leno’s permanent transfer to Fulham seems like it is only a matter of time. Meanwhile, Arsenal bid for Grimaldo and will reportedly make an official bid for Tielemans soon. It is good to see Arsenal work to complete transfers as early in the window as possible. Check back in next week for the latest Arsenal summer transfers and transfer rumors.
